All big players are worrying about these two vulnerabilities as they are using Intel, AMD and ARM based processors which are not 100% immune to these attacks. Microsoft and Google already released patches or techniques to fix Meltdown and Spectre vulnerability. As an end user, do not think too much about these computer vulnerabilities. There is merely not much in your hands to get protection against these Meltdown and Spectre Bugs.

What is Meltdown

Processor does speculative or guess work to save time. Speculative work is the processing work done by a processor even  before the logical condition is evaluated. User may select YES or NO on a particular options window. Processor is ready with the subsequent action part by proactively executing the code and keeping the output for display or discard. This speculative processing opens a loop hole which gives access to non privileged applications to access data inside privileged memory like Operating System Kernel.

What is Spectre

Spectre is a vulnerability that allows one application access to memory part of another application. Usually, all applications run in their own memory barriers without peeping outside the barrier. This memory separation barrier is not working because of Spectre Vulnerability.
